He asks the nurse who checks on him to speak to a doctor, and he wants his wallet and cell phone back as well. He’s Ethan Burke, he is a Secret Service agent, and he was on a mission in Wayward Pines. He soon passes out only to reawaken inside a hospital with barely enough memories to know his own name. The book opens with Ethan Burke waking up beside a river in the woods. Pines by Blake Crouch is the first book in the Wayward Pines trilogy, and it even spawned a television series of the same name.
